iOS 4.2 bringing speed improvements to iPhone 3G ?

The recent iOS updates have mostly been welcome improvements for iPhone 4 and 3GS users, but it's been a decidedly different story for folks sticking to their venerable iPhone 3G. Not only have they been left out of some of the fun, but they were dealt a serious performance hit with iOS 4.0 that was only somewhat corrected by IOS 4.1. Could iOS 4.2 finally bring things back up to speed? According to the folks at TiPb, it just might -- they've now tested the iOS 4.2 gold master on an iPhone 3G and found that performance was noticeably improved across the board. * That's good to hear. 4.1 was a disaster when I still had my 3G


*When I had my 3g, here were some major problems after 4.1:
Took literally 15 seconds to open messaging.
Multitouch turned into Multitouch on a damn Blackberry Torch.
Booting up my device took at least 2 minutes.
As for battery life LOL I was lucky to get 5 hours.
Going from iPhone 3g to iPhone 4 was incredible
*Yes, these problems are significant, which is why I think Apple and others should start renting hardware. People are already paying monthly data fees, why not just throw in the hardware with it, like Cable? Renting hardware would allow everyone to have the latest tech and eliminate these types of problems.

* have a 3G, and Yes 4.0 and 4.1 has been horrible. So horrible, I refuse to buy another iPhone. Why would you go out and keep supporting them if they do this. I would of much preferred them telling me my phone cannot be upgraded to 4.0. But this was ridiculous... Never mind the time change bug that I got hit with...lol

* supported them with the apps I bought, and the searches I did on the phone. Yes I would have went to the iPhone4 if this performance issue did not leave such a bad taste in my mouth. Before I get a comment about it being 2 year old hardware. Yes you are right, but then do not let the 3G phones upgrade to 4.0 like the original iPhone could not. Also consider this, this will be what update 4 since June...and the bug with the daylight savings time with the alarms, it is just brutal.
